You know that the things that are important to you will become priorities in your life. Health is pretty important. So why do I rejoice when it rains early in the morning when I'm planning to walk a couple of miles in my neighborhood? If something throws my plan to exercise off, I just don't exercise. That's not right. If my car doesn't start, I don't think, "Oh, well. I guess I won't go to work today." No, I'm on the phone trying to find a way to work. If it rains, instead of saying, "WooHoo, more sleep!" I need to get up and exercise inside...use a workout video, use my exercise ball, dance to my favorite music for 45 minutes to an hour, or ...(You fill in the blank).
Since exercise is an important part being healthy, we need to have a "Plan B" for the times our "Plan A" falls through. If it's raining, how about meeting a friend at the mall? Wear your pedometer and see how many steps it is between your favorite stores! Was your Zumba class cancelled? You probably remember the moves; put on your favorite music and get moving.
Don't forget to change up your routine. Check out the article "Alternative Exercises." Still thinking you don't have time to exercise? Check out "Everyday Ways to Get Moving."
Now is a good time to come up with your "Plan B." While you're at it, add a C and D so you're always prepared to keep moving. Make exercise a priority; your health is a priority!
